Try rotating the power cable 180° in the back of the console. Make sure the AV cable is not running near any sources of interference. Try replacing the AV cable with a higher-quality one if the source of interference is the cable itself (e.g. the video signal). If you want a PS2 to look good on a HDTV, then you want a plasma because they are as close to CRT as it gets for modern TVs. They are better at displaying lower resolution content than LCD screens. Component cables help but LCDs will still look like a bit of a mess (plasmas don't look great either, just better).
